SCD2012 IR Action Codes Setup
Last Updated 11/16/2009
IR Action Codes are a way to control the base station and modules without the PC software, by using your Sony-compatible universal remote control.

New!!! Video Instructions:
Setting up the software and updating firmware

  1. IR Code (if your remote is set up for Sony codes, just point it at the base station and press the button you want to use for the action you want to set up. The code can range from 0 to 254.)
  2. Select Mode (There are two modes: 1 - Broadcast, and 2 - Unicast.  Broadcast sends an IR Code Action to all modules in the setup More info here. Unicast, on the other hand, sends only to the module you have defined in the "to" field. More info here. )
  3. To (Here you select the module you would like to send the action to, when sending in Unicast Mode)
  4. Action (Actions allow you to set values, change module modes, presets and more.  Each module type has its own action codes.  More info on action codes is available here.)
  5. Value (Some action codes require values, ranging from 0 to 254. More info here.)
  6. Save (The save button will save your created IR Action Code in the base station, so it will be there even when you unplug the base station or reboot your PC.)
  7. Discover Network (The Discover Network Button allows you to rediscover all the modules and their settings.)
  8. All Modules On (Turns all modules on after they have been turned off).
  9. All Modules Off (Turns all modules off that are installed in the network).
  10. Edit IR Code (refreshes the IR Code Table)

Steps to set up a new IR Action Code:

  1. Press the button you want to use on the remote while pointing it at the base station.
The code should appear in Field 1  (see picture).
  2. Then select the mode (Unicast or Broadcast).
  3. If you choose Unicast, set the 'To' field to the module you would like to control.
  4. Select the action you would like to apply to the module when pressing the button on the remote.
  5. Set the value (if needed, depending on the action).
  6. Save the IR code to the Base Station.
  7. Test the button.  It should do the action you have set.

*Unicast IR Codes:

Unicast mode sends the action to the module specified in the 'To' field (No. 3 in example picture above).

*Broadcast IR Codes:

Broadcast mode sends the action code to all modules in the system at once.  If the module knows the action code it will perform it.  If it's unknown in the module, it will just ignore it.  This way you can set actions that apply to more than 1 module at a time.  The buttons 'All on' / 'All Off' are Broadcast codes, since all modules know the code for 'all on' and 'all off'.  Let's say you have more than one White Module , and want to set the port 1 to twinkle on both modules at the same time via IR remote.  You would set the Action code to 'Broadcast' mode.
